Charlotte, NC – April 23, 2010– Carolina Thunder Drumline is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Music Center of Gastonia and Mapex Drums to use Mapex Quantum Marching Percussion equipment exclusively for their performances, including for Carolina Panthers home games.

Jason Gilchrist, Music Center sales representative, says, “We are proud to provide an opportunity for this talented group of musicians to play the finest quality Mapex marching drums.  It is a privilege to give back to our community.”

Chris Hankes, Marching and Concert Percussion Manager for Mapex shares in their enthusiasm; “The Carolina Thunder has a strong history of excellence.  We at Mapex are thrilled to be associated with such a high level organization, and sincerely appreciate Greg Dearman and Greg Shull and their talented staff at Carolina Thunder choosing Mapex.”

Originally founded as a youth marching percussion ensemble, Carolina Thunder participated in Winter Guard International from 1998 through 2001. The ensemble was well known for innovation in the activity, setting new trends in musical arrangements and program design.  During their tenure, Carolina Thunder placed in Winter Guard International World Class percussion finals each year of their participation.

The Carolina Thunder Drumline was resurrected in the summer of 2008 as an adult performing ensemble for pre-game activities at Carolina Panthers home games. This unique, high-energy group made appearances in ’08 and ’09 at Bank of America Stadium and 2010 promises even more involvement and exciting performance opportunities for the ensemble.
