David Moreno

  David Moreno is a native of the Rio Grande Valley and a graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he earned both a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance and a Master’s Degree in Music Education. Since 2019, he has served as the Mariachi Trumpet Lecturer and Assistant Mariachi Director at UTRGV. David’s performance career spans over 15 years and includes collaborations across diverse musical genres, such as mariachi, salsa, classical, and jazz. He has performed at prestigious venues like the Hollywood Bowl, the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center, the Chicago Lyric Opera, and the White House, where he performed for President Barack Obama during a ceremony commemorating the renewal of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence. He also performed at the world premiere of the mariachi opera "Cruzar la Cara de la Luna" in collaboration with the Houston Grand Opera and the Chicago Lyric Opera.
  
  Additionally, David has toured across the United States with Grammy Award-winning artist Aida Cuevas and performed with renowned ensembles like the San Francisco Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, and Buffalo Symphony.
  
  David has also contributed to the mariachi community by serving as a guest clinician at various mariachi workshops and conferences in cities such as Albuquerque, San Antonio, San Jose, and Los Angeles. His work with Mariachi continues to elevate the cultural representation of Hispanic music and traditions on both national and international stages.
