Taipei, Taiwan – APRIL 24, 2025 – Mariachi specialist, educator and performer David Moreno has officially joined the Jupiter Band Instrument Educational Artist roster. David joins a select group of artists who represent the brand’s commitment to supporting music education and performance.

A lifelong mariachi musician and native of the Rio Grande Valley, Moreno brings a deep-rooted passion for cultural heritage, education, and musical innovation to his new role. He currently serves as Mariachi Trumpet Lecturer and Assistant Mariachi Director at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where he earned both his Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance and Master’s Degree in Music Education.

Moreno is the co-director of the nationally recognized Mariachi Aztlán and has taught at the collegiate level for over five years, creating unique and academically impactful musical experiences as a trumpet professor. His combined teaching and performance expertise also earned him a featured clinician slot at TMEA 2025, where he presented a distinctive trumpet clinic reflecting his cross-genre fluency and mariachi mastery.

With a performance career spanning more than 15 years, Moreno has toured nationally with GRAMMY Award-winning artist Aida Cuevas and appeared with esteemed ensembles such as the San Francisco Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, and Buffalo Symphony. His performance credits include the Hollywood Bowl, the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center, and the White House, where he played for President Barack Obama during a ceremony honoring the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence. He also performed in the world premiere of the mariachi opera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna, in collaboration with the Houston Grand Opera and Chicago Lyric Opera.

A frequent clinician, Moreno has brought his insight and experience to mariachi workshops and conferences across Albuquerque, San Antonio, San Jose, Los Angeles, and beyond—continuing to elevate the cultural representation of Hispanic music in both academic and professional spaces.
